Misa A. Everist grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida and is a graduate of St. Petersburg High School. She graduated from Loyola University New Orleans majoring in Political Science and Philosophy. She worked for several years after college as a trainer in the real estate industry. In 1999 she graduated with honors from the University of Miami School of Law.
She began her career as a Florida state prosecutor in Pinellas and Seminole Counties where she served as an Assistant State Attorney gaining valuable jury trial experience. During her time as a prosecutor, she served as a felony trial attorney, crimes against children and sexual abuse prosecutor, drug interdiction and white-collar crimes specialist, lead trial attorney of a misdemeanor division, and a delinquency prosecutor. She taught at the St. Petersburg Police Academy and was an instructor at the Pinellas County Boot Camp.
She then spent the next fifteen years working for a firm specializing in estate, guardianship, and trust matters.
Misa A. Everist currently concentrates her practice in the areas of estate, trust, and guardianship administration and litigation, and estate planning.
Misa is an active member of the legal community and currently serves on the executive board of the St. Petersburg Bar Association having previously served as the probate chair. She was president of the Barney Masterson Inn of Court after serving on the executive board for several years. She is a community law volunteer, guardian ad litem appointed in high conflict divorce cases, and serves as attorney ad litem in dependency cases.
Misa is also active in the community and served on the board of directors of Lutheran Church of the Cross Day School, and the Children’s Advocacy Foundation. She currently serves on the board of Girls Rock St. Pete.
Misa is an avid runner, with two marathons under her belt. She enjoys yoga, reading, and spending time with her husband and two girls.
